The Magic in the “Why” of Your Brand

All too often, I hear people talk about what they do in the spiritual space.

“I’m a tarot reader.”
“I sell metaphysical products.”
“I provide reiki services.”

Sometimes, they talk about how they do it or what their process is, but what I often don’t hear is the why behind what they do..

The why is what connects spiritual entrepreneurs and business owners with the right audience for them.

After all, there are a lot of tarot readers, but what your audience wants to know is the motivating “why” behind your connection to tarot.

There are a lot of metaphysical shops—but the why behind the inception of your business is the heart and soul that people want to connect with.

Plenty of people can perform reiki, so unless someone knows why you are an energy worker and healer, they could potentially go anywhere for the same services, right?

Your why is what establishes the energetic connection between you and your niche audience. It allows them to know you. The real you. And in the spiritual space, transparency, authenticity, and energy are everything.

For me, I’m a storyteller at heart. It’s in my wiring. When I get to tell stories, especially ones that connect people with divinity, their higher selves, and a greater sense of purpose, I feel fulfilled and alive.

Connecting people with wisdom is my why.

How I do it is through storytelling.

And what I do to accomplish this varies in different seasons in my life.

Sometimes it’s through writing (like this), and other times it’s through publishing books or developing courses for people to learn from.

In another season for me, though, it could look like being a school teacher, producing films, or any other number of hobbies and career paths that allow narratives to be shaped and retold to change how others perceive something.

Storytelling is a big piece of marketing too, and believe it or not, there’s a great deal of magic that goes into the art of weaving together narratives that re-shape how people understand something.

That’s where the magic of marketing comes in for me—and if you’re ready, for you too.

Connecting people with wisdom through storytelling is what motivates everything I do through Astarte’s Temple and The Star Village—and I believe that other spiritual practitioners who want to step into the entrepreneurial space to share their wisdom and gifts is beautiful and needed.

Since childhood, I’ve been able to see spirits, receive messages through dreams, and communicate with otherworldly realms and beings, and I didn’t grow up in an environment where I was given the appropriate tools to truly explore what all that meant for me energetically.

In 2011, I left the modern religious circles I had been raised in to pursue esotericism. I had glimpses of the motherly qualities of divinity, believed that the universe was incredibly more complex and intricate than modern religion taught, and found myself deep diving into ancient schools of thought starting with Gnosticism, the first century church, and the like, which ultimately led me to mysticism, paganism, occultism, magic, and my current understanding of spirituality.

At the same time, I was pursuing an education and career opportunities that went hand-in-hand with marketing and storytelling. Starting with a degree in Art & Design, I then got a second degree in Public Relations & Advertising, and finally an MA in Digital Media (Film) Production.

With art and design, I learned to tell stories through artwork, graphics, and visuals. My second degree taught me to tell stories that shaped how potential customers or clients viewed a brand. My third degree allowed me to express storytelling through film and digital platforms.

Same storytelling, but different mediums.

After years of owning a marketing agency that put these storytelling methods to work in many different industries, I found myself lacking my WHY. How was I connecting people with wisdom by marketing products I don’t believe in wholeheartedly?

I wasn’t.

So, here I am, coming back to MY why. Connecting people with wisdom. I believe spiritual entrepreneurs like yourself have gifts, abilities, services, and products that stem from the divine wisdom in yourself and from the infinite wisdom of the universe. I believe that with the wisdom of the magic of marketing, you can reach your niche audience and have a positive impact on their lives.

That’s my why. So, now I’ll ask you…what’s your why?
